So after the highs of finding out that I wasn't shooting blanks and the lows of random bleeding and 'poor' test results it was time to go back to see our fertility specialist for SWMBO's final checkup before the FS finally admitted success and we could walk around with a spring in our step.
SWMBO was still bleeding at this point (the friday after our aborted shopping trip) and although we were kind of OK getting used to it (a woman who says she's not concerned about bleeding during pregnancy is as rare as a bloke who doesn't wank) we still couldn't wait to get in and see the FS.
SWMBO had barely got herself 'ready' to be inspected (the FS had a chair with stirrups that gets reclined back) when dildocam was doing its thing and we saw bubs' heartbeat again. Apparently saying "wow you're good with that thing" to the FS whenshe's doing her thing with dildocam isn't the done thing (I have a feeling I'm going to be learning a lot during this process!).
We saw the heartbeat again and yes, I cried again. If I wasn't capable of getting SWMBO up the duff, I might've been worried that I was a big gay girl! According to the FS the heartbeat was fine and our blob was a well-formed blob, there wasn't much to say really.
Unfortunately, the printer was broken on their ultrasound machine, so the FS suggested I come around to the other side of SWMBO and take a photo with my camera. It wasn't until I was going back to my place on the other side of SWMBO that I realised she was flat on her back with bits of medical imaging equipment where medical imaging equipment shouldn't be! No, there isn't a lot of dignity in this process.
After our first visit to the women's ED we found out that the "membranous material" near SWMBO's cervix was likely to be a polyp. Unfortunately, the crinone pessaries were likely to be knocking it and causing the bleeding. Apparently removing the poly was a 30 second job requiring the loss of only a little more dignity.
So, all that worry was over a benign growth that took 30 seconds to remove. Didn't we feel stupid? Well all that was easy, now we had to break our private little pregnancy bubble and tell SWMBO's parents that I'd got her up the duff. Now that was scary...
