Changes over the past 3 weeks

If you've read this blog before you'll know that I was once a pregnant bloke and am now the proudest dad in the world to a beautiful, happy, healthy son. In fact I'm so proud that people can show no interest in Little Bugger (LB) whatsoever and they're forced to sit through an excruciating slide show of photos whether they like it or not.

But anyway...people say that when you have a child your life changes like you've never known before. I didn't believe them. I should have. Here are some of the thing that have changed here over the past 3 weeks since LB was born.

Vomit (SWMBO likes to get technical and call it a 'spill'. What does she know?!)
  • There was the first vomit where I went into a mad panic, threw LB upright, screamed for SWMBO to call an Ambulance and started googling for baby CPR
  • The next time around I remembered that it wasn't too serious, but got a bit upset that LB had decided to get baby puke on a pair of $150 jeans
  • The third time was at about 4am one morning. LB decided to puke down the front of my dressing gown so much that I could use his vomit as hair gel on my chest. I ended up just going back to bed, I was having a shower a couple of hours later anyway
Closeness
  • For the first couple of days LB was next to us all the time so that we could spend hours looking at him, watching him breathe and marvelling at what a perfect LB SWMBO and I had managed to produce
  • For breakfast on day 3 LB was relegated to the dark end of SWMBO's hospital room so that we could eat breakfast without LB stirring and waking up
  • When we got home, LB was relegated to his nursery (with obligatory sound and breathing monitor)
